KTIMA BIBLIA CHORA S.A.
V. Tsaktsarlis – V. Gerovassiliou
Pangeon Mountains, Kavala, Makedonia, North Greece
Type of wine:
Pangeon, protected geographical indication, dry red
end of August – begin of September
Predominantly Mediterranean climate but with mountainous influence due the proximity with Mt. Pangeon. Reasonably mild winters with cool summers help for the ideal ripening of the grapes.
The vineyards are situated at 380 meters altitude in choky-clay, stony soil. The environmentally friendly cultivation of the vines follows strict standards of Organic Agriculture.
It is vinified in a conventional manner with an extended maceration period. It has undergone malolactic fermentation following which it matured for 16 months in new French oak barrels.
Plagios red is a regional expression of carefully selected grapes of the French Merlot variety subjected to the microclimate of Pangeon. This full – bodied dry red wine has a dense mahogany red color. Its nose entices with typical varietal aromas of red fruits, especially black cherry, pleasantly enveloped in scents of cedar wood, nutmeg and vanilla. Expect a wonderful wine with a fruit – driven core of mellow plummy flavors and a hint of dark chocolate on a pleasantly long finish. The strong tannins are well integrated in its firm structure that gives it great ageing potential.
Plagios Red teams up very well with a variety of stews and grilled meats with spicy sauces as well as fatty cheeses.
