Pangeon Mountains, Kavala, Makedonia, North Greece, ORGANIC, VEGAN
50% Assyrtiko, 50% Semillon
Type of wine:
Pangeon, protected geographical indication, barrel fermented
Assyrtiko: mid – late September Semillon: mid of September
Predominantly Mediterranean climate but with mountainous influence due the proximity with Mt. Pangeon. Reasonably mild winters with cool summers help for the ideal ripening of the grapes.
The vineyards are situated at 380 meters altitude in choky-clay, stony soil. The environmentally friendly cultivation of the vines follows strict standards of Organic Agriculture.
After a brief maceration period on the skins, the wine is fermented in French oak and left in contact with the lees in barrel for a few months to add structure and complexity.
Ovilos white is a most exciting blend of two grape varieties, Assyrtiko and Semillon, grown in the warmest but most barren spot in the Estate’s vineyard located on the slopes of Mount Pangeon. The Semillon’s fragrant expression and ageing ability are complemented by the strength, structure and exceptional freshness of the Assyrtiko. This dry white wine eyes bright yellow with light green hues. Its fine nose is expressive with aromas of apricot and honey on elegant layers of tropical fruit and citrus, all amplified by scents of nuts and vanilla. Rich in texture, this stylish aromatic wine is delicately balanced by a refreshing palatethat leads into a complex finish.
Ovilos White matches well with firm fish on the grill, seafood risotto, sushi, turkey and other poultry, andcheese soufflé.
